Sandel Playground in the Greenwood neighborhood is small, basically filling a small block, but has several appealing features for its community.
Swings and a small play area I imagine must be popular with neighborhood kids. And, those kids have probably been missing the the wading pool on hot days, which is closed this summer for repairs.
A nice path rings the park, providing shade under mature leafy trees. There’s also a basketball court, which was quiet on the day we visited, but strangely featured a McDonald’s logo on one of the hoop’s backboards.
On the day we visited just a few people were in the park: a family with a toddler on the swings, two kids circling the park on bikes, a man lazing on the sunny slope. Looks like a pretty typical scene in this nice, if typical, community playground.
