Alright, who are these people who get to live across the street from Madrona Park? Views of Mt. Rainier and Bellevue, Lake Washington at their doorstep, hiking trails just steps away… these guys have it good.
But, really we all have it good, because Madrona Park is open to everyone, and everyone should take advantage of all the great things it has to offer.
In the summer, Madrona is lifeguarded, which means it’s packed on a sunny day. Swimmers can compete with seagulls for precious real estate on the parks’ two swimming platforms.
Little kids can entertain themselves for countless hours in the wonderful sand play area near the south end of the park. A faucet, which kids can turn on and off themselves, sends a stream of water winding through the sand, passing under logs and around rocks.
The northern section of the park has a large grassy lawn with trees, benches and picnic shelters. The city is restoring a creek at the end of the park. You can walk through it on a newly built path and check out the native plants.
Don’t forget that Madrona Park also includes a little under a mile of hiking trails that wind through the forest. You can access them across Lake Washington Boulevard.
There’s nothing like waterfront property that we all can use.
