Soundview Playfield is Crown Hill’s action center for all ages on a sunny September Saturday.
Six-year-olds are tearing around the castle-like play structure. A four-year-old is riding his scooter up and down the park’s small hill. A 20-something is simultaneously catching up on sleep and catching rays. And, a team of 40-year-olds is warming up for a game of rec baseball while complaining of achy joints and moaning about the days when they could pitch a whole game.
The mark of a great park is having something for everyone, and Soundview seems to accomplish that. It’s a good-sized space at more than 10 acres with features that include tennis courts, ball fields, an ADA-compliant play area and a wading pool for warm weather.
Best of all, there’s plenty of space to have a picnic, play a game of ultimate Frisbee, take a stroll along the park’s paved paths or watch a baseball game to see what happens when a team runs out of pitchers.
