Location: West Seattle
Address: 7400 Fauntleroy Way S.W.
Acreage: 7.17

I climbed up the hill across the street from Lincoln Park in West Seattle today to investigate a big grassy mound and discovered Solstice Park.

Completed in 2002, this park is a wonderful place to take in views of the Puget Sound or to star gaze. Not surprisingly, it’s a popular spot to celebrate the change of seasons on the solstices and equinoxes. The top of the park is constructed to align with the sunset on those occasions.

In addition to the apex, you’ll find tennis courts, a couple of trails and a neighborhood p-patch.

I’m marking my calendar to come back on the longest day of the year in June.

PS: Here’s a map of the park. (Thanks, Alice.)
