Fremont Canal Park is the place to be on one particular weekend every June. That’s when the neighborhood transforms into one of the biggest and best street fairs in Seattle, the Fremont Fair. And, this park–right on the canal–is the center of that madness.
Another fun day of the year to visit is on opening day of boating season in early May. The parade of boats and their vainglorious owners is always entertaining.
The day I visited there was no big event and it was drizzling, but it’s still fun to look out over the canal. The Burke Gilman Trail runs through the park, which makes it a nice place to stop for a rest. You’ll probably have the park to yourself… until that crazy weekend in June.
