If you’re exploring the several connected parks of the I-90 Lid, you may pass by this overlook without noticing that it’s considered a separate park.
From Judkins Park, walk toward I-90 and you’ll catch a little view of the freeway and Beacon Hill. The rolling hills at this park make for a great picnic spot, and kids may like running (or rolling) down the grass.
Judge Stokes, who passed away in 1996, was the first black legislator elected to the Washington State Legislature from King County and the first African American to serve on King County District Court. He also fought for fair employment in Washington State in the late 1940s.
