I almost decided not to visit this mouthful of a park, thinking it would be an inaccessible ravine not really intended for visitors. So, I was pretty surprised when I detoured from my walk to give it a shot and found a small, but wonderful park with one of the best views of Lake Washington from this part of the city.
The Leschi-Lake Dell Natural Area is on such a quiet residential street, I wonder how many people have ever visited it. It has been very carefully maintained, however, and I was even greeted by a Parks worker who was picking up trash and clearing overgrown brush.
Although I had a heavy stroller with me, I was tempted to take one of the steep staircases on either side of the park down to the streets below, which would let you out near Madrona Park on the waterfront. Next time…
