When the city’s infamous monorail project was abandoned in 2004, West Seattleites lost the chance to have quick, fixed-rail transportation to downtown Seattle. But, well, at least they gained a new community park, right?
Morgan Junction Park, which sits in what’s known as the Morgan Junction (not to be confused with the busy Alaska Junction just north), was supposed to be the site of one of the monorail stops. Part of the land was sold and part was turned into this park that was completed a couple of years ago with a lot of input from the community.
The small circular lawn is nice for kids and picnics and is surrounded by several benches. The park gets most of its use at the neighborhood’s annual Morgan Junction Festival each June.
