Colman Playground is more than 100 years old and sits next to the historic Colman School, now housing the Northwest African American Museum. Colman Playground’s nice grass field is popular for rec soccer and Ultimate Frisbee games.
Contrasting the old is the new Children’s PlayGarden, an innovative playground located on the south end of the property dedicated to giving children of all physical and mental abilities a safe place to play. A wonderful place for kids to explore on their own or as part of one of the PlayGarden’s structured programs, this public-private partnership’s features include a playground, gardens, an ADA-accessible basketball court and even a preschool.
No doubt that all kids will love this cool new community asset.

This is a great park to visit during the summer. Keep in mind they run a pre-school program there as well, so checking ahead for availability is a good idea. A day or two a week they put out floating toys for the kids to use in the waterfall. When we went back a second time we put our 3 year old in his swimshorts and he had a lot of fun. There’s some musical instrument toys there and the building can be rented out for birthdays I believe.
The waterfall sounds fun! Thanks for sharing.
