Seattle has dozens of community P-patch gardens where the list is often years long to snag your own garden plot, but only a few are official public parkland owned by the city. Interbay P-Patch is one of those and despite its location off the very busy 15th Ave. W., it’s worth checking out.
Bordering the Interbay Golf Course, Interbay P-Patch is a large community garden with several welcoming entrances. Wander among the 132 plots, and you’ll see vegetables, flowers and herbs plus lots of interesting garden art hidden around the park. A partially covered patio holding a few chairs makes a nice seating area.
This P-Patch has been around since the 1970s, and several plots host vegetables grown exclusively for local food banks.
Smith Cove Park on the Magnolia Waterfront is close by and makes a good next stop.
