Location: North Seattle/Northgate
Address: 5th Ave. N.E. & N.E. 103rd St.
Acreage: approx. 10

Just a block or so from Northgate Mall and right behind the Northgate Community Center is a hidden little forested block where you can see the daylighted Thornton Creek. This is one section of Thornton Creek, which stretches in a diagonal fashion across northeast Seattle.

Although I didn’t spot any on my visit, an active beaver population can apparently be spotted at this park. It’s almost hard to believe sitting so close to this giant shopping area. Other wildlife and birds also take refuge in this nice green space.

This is a great park for a quick stroll, and the short, flat path makes it an easy “hike” for kids. The vegetation is pretty dense, so this park actually feels like a perfect escape from this busy part of the city.

There are several great additional parks to visit nearby including Northgate Park, Hubbard Homestead and Victory Heights Playground.
