Acreage: 1.2

The Port of Seattle has a handful of great parks that seem to not get as many visitors because they aren’t publicized with the official City of Seattle Parks Department parks.

Terminal 105 Park, off West Marginal Way S.W. near West Seattle, is a fun spot to check out. Note, the Port lists this park’s address as 4260 West Marginal Way S.W. but that will put you too far south. I believe a more accurate address is the 4000 block.

As you arrive there are only a couple of parking spots close to the waterfront, so I recommend parking near the entrance and walking the rest of the way into the park. I visited in the fall when the colors were beautiful on the trees and shrubs that line the long driveway as I biked in. By walking or biking you also have time to enjoy the view of the Duwamish River estuary.

In addition to three picnic tables and a covered gazebo, the park has a wonderful dock that offers an up-close angle on all the activity on the Duwamish River. Young kids would love to watch the machinery and boats in action immediately to the north.

If you’re in this area, it’s worth a visit to Herring’s House Park and Terminal 107 Path.
