Santos Rodriguez Memorial Park is the front yard for the Beacon Hill non-profit El Centro de La Raza. But this front yard is public space, and a lot of great amenities are packed into its fairly small space.
The park is another great playground option to this neighborhood’s families. You’ll find two really nice climbing structures–one for younger kids and one for older–as well as swings. I like that this park is fully fenced, so parents don’t have to worry about kids running out into the street.
This is also a good park for multigenerational families to enjoy together. Kids will have fun on the playground and hopping on the round mosaic structures. Parents and grandparents can rest on nearby benches or at one of the beautiful wooden picnic tables that are sheltered from sun and rain against the building.
A tidy demonstration garden is constructed and awaiting spring planting season. A newly planted open lawn will be a great place for summer picnics.
With a small performance stage at the south end, it looks like the park will be able to host large community gatherings.
