November is the peak time of year to witness the colors changing at the magnificent Japanese Garden inside the Washington Park Arboretum. Walk the gravel loop path to find little bridges, ponds and waterfalls awaiting your discovery among the wide variety of plants and trees.
The garden was built in 1960 and involved moving more than 500 granite boulders (most weighing more than a ton each!) from Snoqualmie Pass to the site. Most of the work was done by Japanese-American gardeners.
Grab a map online or at the entrance for a self-guided tour. They also offer guided tours daily.
Entrance is $6 for adults; $4 for youth/seniors/students/disabled; free for kids under 6. Note that the park is closed December to March.
