I love waterfront street ends and have explored many of them in Seattle. So, I was excited this summer to discover that Mercer Island has nearly a dozen of its own just across the bridge.
I took my bike and explored several in a couple of hours. The first stop was Forest Landing about halfway up the western side of the island. While tiny, this mini park offers access to the water and views of Seattle.
You’ll find a rocky beach, solitary bench and some nice plants providing privacy from close by neighbors. The best is the views across to Seward Park in Seattle, which looks like a large forest from this side of the lake.
