A lovely walking trail around a pond in the heart of West Seattle, and hardly anybody knows about it? Unlikely, but true. This private park is part of the High Point community and is open to the public during daylight hours.
The main feature is the drainage pond (hosting happy ducks on the day I visited) and a quarter-mile path that circles the pond. At one end a waterfall spills over rocks and fills the pond with fresh water.
Take a loop or two and then pull up a seat on one of the benches to soak in some sunshine. Another nice spot to pause is the viewing platform with a metal grate underfoot that juts out slightly over the pond. You’ll find a sculpture resembling whale fins nearby at the edge of a large open lawn.
