Bagley Viewpoint sits just off Delmar Dr., the road that crosses Highway 520 connecting the Eastlake and Montlake neighborhoods. It takes a quick maneuver to pull into the tiny parking lot in front of this park. Not much more than a viewpoint, it looks out over 520 and Portage Bay.
Due to thick vegetation, it can be tough to get a really good sight line. I was more interested in learning about this park’s namesake, Herman Beardsley Bagley, a city council member and the first homeopathic physician and surgeon in the state of Washington.
Now, this might not sound so interesting, but I was shocked to learn that he lived from 1845-1899. Who knew the roots of Seattle’s homeopathic medical community went back that far?
