Pratt Park is another Central District park that connects through a network of great walking trails. I reached Pratt Park by foot from nearby Lavizzo Park.
After checking out the nice playground for little kids at Lavizzo Park, it was great to see that the older kids have their own playground at Pratt Park. And, it’s a fabulous playground. The equipment appears new and has lots of cool climbing platforms, bridges and slides.
In the summer kids of all ages can play in the spray park/fountain.
Teens probably like the covered basketball courts that would provide a way to play ball year-round in Seattle. You’ll also find picnic tables and benches for picnics.
Edwin T. Pratt was a community leader who fought for equal rights in housing and education. He was tragically assassinated at his front door in 1969.
This park is a peaceful contrast to that dark day in Seattle history.
