More than 100 acres of waterfront property are accessible to the public along Lake Washington Boulevard in East and South Seattle.
It’s pretty astounding when you think about that much land being set aside back nearly 100 years ago. I think about this often when I’m enjoying the view along more than nine miles of trails that wind from Seward Park in the south all the way up to the Arboretum.
This boulevard is an ideal stretch for a peaceful setting for walking, biking, running or even a quiet weekend drive. The level, paved trail along the road is easy on strollers and is even flat enough for wheelchairs in many places. This is also a popular place to walk exercise-craving dogs.
Also, check out Car-Free Sundays. Every Sunday from now through September, you can ditch your car and safely walk or ride your bike right in the middle of the road along Lake Washington Boulevard.
