It’s a chilly day, but the skies are clear and the sun’s rays feel heavenly after what seems like weeks of heavy rains. So, it’s a great day for a walk around hilly Laurelhurst where views of the water and mountains seem to be around every corner.
A good starting point for a walk in this elegant neighborhood is at the Laurelhurst Playfield, a large park I’d never visited before. The playground has plenty of equipment to occupy kids from toddler to elementary school. There are also large ball fields and nice tennis courts. A couple of dogs were trading balls that their owners were tossing across the big grass lawns.
The community center has been beautifully renovated blending brick with more modern materials. One of the nicest facilities the Parks Department owns.
From here, there are lots of nice routes through Laurelhurst, including an almost unknown waterfront park…
