Just about the size of a large residential lot, Nora’s Woods is a secret wooded park near the Madrona neighborhood. Nora Wood and her husband Fran lived in Madrona and owned this undeveloped lot. Years later, community residents helped preserve it as green space and turn it into a showcase for native plants.
A few gentle paths wind through the park, which sits on a hillside on a corner lot. A nice touch is the careful placement of placards identifying some of the plant species.

Your post was helpful. It provided the most information I could find quickly on the internet. I had never heard of this park until a friend told me about the Pollinator Pathway. I wondered whether Nora’s Woods would be a worthwhile destination after walking 1.5 miles through the Central Area. It’s a lovely place!
My parents owned the four lots that are now called Nora Woods park. I still remember mowing the grass on the west and north sides of the
property they moved here from the south and owned three houses the largest of which was at 3113 E. Cherry and the again those four lots.
There names were Horace and Marie Brown and I believe they owned those lots for at least thirty years until Horace passed away after his wife
marie in 1989-90……..Love u mamma and daddy!!!!!
Thanks for sharing this history, Martin!
This blog was… how do I say it? Relevant!! Finally I’ve found something which helped me.
Thanks!
