The Delridge neighborhood, perhaps surprisingly, is actually one of the best places to walk in West Seattle. And, a great place to set off from is Cottage Grove Park just a couple of blocks from the busy Delridge Ave.
Cottage Grove was revamped a few years ago, and it’s been carefully maintained. The plants and trees make for a beautiful backdrop and line the path that curves through the park.
The playground equipment is more interesting than the usual things kids will find, and there’s a covered area with a bench for parents to watch from.
One corner of the park sports a “recovery garden,” one of 10 spots in the country selected to create a peaceful place for those recovering from substance abuse or suffering from mental health issues.
This park converges on two other parks that sit across the street and kitty-corner to Cottage Grove Park. I recommend visiting both Greg Davis Park and Puget Boulevard Commons during your walk in Delridge.
