Lesser known than Kerry Park, but I think more interesting and with also some great views is Kinnear Park in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.
I love the gorgeous tall trees and huge sloped lawn that would be a perfect place to lay out a picnic blanket. After your picnic, take advantage of all the different spots to take in views of Elliott Bay, downtown Seattle and the Olympic Mountains. Then, follow the trails through the the park where you’ll stumble upon a play area and tennis courts.
The lower end of the park has a 5,400-square-foot off-leash dog park. If your dog still needs exercise after a romp in the dog park, you can continue downhill, cross Elliott Ave. and reach Myrtle Edwards Park.
George Kinnear arrived in Seattle in 1874 and helped develop Queen Anne Hill. This savvy guy saw the value of view property, and he held quite a large piece of this hill in his real estate holdings. Lucky for us, he was also generous. He sold 14 acres of his land for $1 to create Kinnear Park.
