Need a tranquil place to get away? Often overlooked, Colman Park in the Mount Baker neighborhood of South Seattle is a great spot to give yourself a break and enjoy a quiet walk or bike ride.
Colman Park is one of Seattle’s oldest parks and features touches from the Olmsted Brothers, who helped design the paths as well as many other parks in the area. You can explore those paths by starting at the top of the park (the western edge) and wander your way down toward the waterfront and Lake Washington Boulevard. This also connects you to the adjacent Mount Baker Park.
James Colman (born 1832) was a Seattle engineer who built the Colman Dock and helped the city build its first railroad.
