Beck Place is named for William and Louise Beck who in the late 1800s dreamed of and invested in creating a large park in north Seattle (which now encompasses beautiful Ravenna Park).
So, I find it amusing that this all-concrete park that sports a stop sign, a bus stop and really nothing else should be the chosen piece of public space to honor a couple that gave Seattle one of its best greenspaces. But, this all took place many years ago, so who knows how it all went down.
Don’t miss the chance to explore two great parks nearby, Ravenna Park and Cowen Park, which are connected right about where Beck Place sits. Maybe there is some symbolism in that.
