A wide, gently sloping lawn greets you as you enter Martha Washington Park in South Seattle. You can access this park from either the north or west, but either way you will follow the field dotted with trees down toward Lake Washington where you can even find a view of Mt. Rainier on a clear day.
Just south of Seward Park, this nine-acre park doesn’t seem to get much attention, but it definitely deserves a visit. This is a nice space to walk your dog or let your kids run around in the large open space. A small path even creates a short walking loop. By the water you can launch a kayak or canoe or just enjoy the views.
This space was a school for troubled girls until the 1970s. Before that, it was a youth camp.
