The Magnolia neighborhood finally has its own off-leash dog park with the addition of Magnolia Manor Park, which opened in 2012. Built on Seattle Public Utility land, this park is a little awkward to explore since the center section is still fenced off due to the underground reservoir.
Until they reposition the fences, (which is rumored to be happening soon) you’ll have to access the dog park from 28th Ave. S.W. and the under-construction-P-patch from 27th Ave. S.W. From the P-patch, you can see the happy dogs running around at the other end of the park, but you can’t reach that entrance without going around the block.
Cumbersome access aside, this park is a great addition of greenspace to Magnolia. The off-leash dog park is well thought out with an attractive fence and a mix of surfaces. It also has two separate sections so smaller dogs can have their own space. A couple of benches are inside the fence for dog owners.
From the dog area walk out to the edge of the park for views of North Seattle. As you head back, you’ll see children’s artwork displayed along the north fence.
From Magnolia Manor Park walk north to Lawton Park, which has new playground equipment.
