I’m on the hunt for calmer spots to go swimming in the Seattle area away from the crowds at the popular beaches. With a sandy waterfront on Lake Washington, Chism Beach Park in Bellevue is a great spot for a dip.
Wind through the curvy residential streets west of Bellevue Way just a bit south of downtown Bellevue. The first thing you’ll notice about this park is the beautiful landscaping with nice plants and lots of freshly mown green grass for picnics. The beach is flat and sandy with a small play structure shaped like a pirate ship.
Lifeguards are on duty certain hours, and there’s also a dock for deeper water access. Grass on both sides with a few picnic tables that are reservable make a nice sand-free spot for parents to sit.
On a hot day there is plenty of shade for relief. And, of course, there’s the lake for a refreshing swim.
