Les Gove Park is a bit of a drive for people who live in Seattle, the Eastside or north King County. But summer is a great time for families to visit this Auburn park that’s packed with fun activities for kids to last a whole afternoon.
The park has an amazing playground that is one of the most accessible outdoor play spaces I’ve seen. Play elements include steep slides, a climbing net, musical chimes and drums, a merry-go-round at ground level, swings and much more. The play area also has a very cool water feature that includes running water and a dam surrounded by sand. In the summer you can take advantage of the spray park that is open daily.
Parents will appreciate plenty of benches and a great covered picnic area within eyesight of the playground.
There’s quite a bit to do at this park for adults, too. If you’re looking to get a little exercise, you’ll find several pieces of adult exercise equipment surrounding the playground. There’s also a flat half-mile walking trail that circles the park and is lined with trees for shade. And, check out the bocce ball court and horseshoe pits.
The park is named after Leslie Gove, a former mayor of Auburn. The park’s beautiful cherry trees (supposedly there are 100 of them) were a gift from sister city Kasugo, Japan.
