Descend the cement stairs where E. Shelby Street ends in the Montlake area and you’ll find a very private beachfront mini park. This hidden spot sports a tidy lawn ringed with shrubs. A narrow spot gives you access to the water and a fish-eye view of boats and houseboats moored in Portage Bay.
Before you leave, look for a plaque that tells you about the first residents of this space.
Two other hidden street ends worth visiting in this neighborhood are E. Hamlin and E. Edgar.
