Opened in June 2016, this neighborhood park close to bustling Broadway street is a great use of public space. The corner lot is fabulously accessible with a paved path reachable from both streets that makes it easy for wheelchairs and strollers to use all of Broadway Hill Park.
The lower section has a nice flat lawn with–at least for now–perfect grass that feels like it’s calling out for you to pull up a blanket and picnic or sunbathe. A large oak tree provides a bit of shade in this mostly uncovered park.
The upper section has beautiful wooden tables (some wheelchair-accessible too) plus a barbecue grill and benches. A neighborhood P-patch in the early stages of planting fills out the corner where it will eventually bring bees buzzing and butterflies fluttering. A really cool aspect is the chalk wall on one side of the park where kids can doodle.
