This awesome park is the perfect one to shout about right as school is getting out and temperatures are heating up. Set on the shore of 150-acre Lake Meridian, this kid-friendly park is a perfect half-day outing for families.
Start at the playground that has two awesome climbing structures–one that’s large and wheelchair-accessible and another shaped like a pirate ship with a view of the lake. My kids played an elaborate game of hunting for pirate treasure on this cool climber. There’s a challenging scavenger hunt here, too, with little symbols hidden on the play structures.
Kids will also love the spinning rope climber, rock-climbing structure, geometric net climber and swings.
Then, head over to the sandy beach for some fun digging and swimming. If you prefer to watch your kids sand-free, there’s a large lawn just above the beach with a good view of the lake and the shoreline. (The area has lifeguards in the summer.)
It’s easy to find shade at Lake Meridian Park with a giant shelter that sits between the beach and the play area. It’s popular for groups (and reservable), so if it’s full lay out your blanket under the trees that give this park extra protection on hot days.
